The Youth Ministry Program of Our Lady of Grace Parish, Howard Beach, NY visited the Queen of Peace Residence, Queens Village, NY on Sunday, July 30th and entertained the residents with a show including sacred and secular hymns by the OLG Youth Choir, and a dance routine by members of the Competition Team at Fazio Dance Studio who are part of the OLG Youth Group.
The concert began with the Youth Group giving paper tissue flowers (which they made) to all the residents, as well as to their family and friends who were also present. The choir began with the National Anthem, as they had sung one month prior for a Mets game at CitiField. It continued with inspirational anthems of faith followed by popular standards such as “Splish Splash”, “New York, New York”, and “Yankee Doodle Dandy” which the residents clapped and sang along to.
It continued with a tap dance to a special version of “Candy Man” followed by a Marian hymn and the presentation of flowers to our Blessed Mother. it concluded with a special Blessing song and “So Long, Farewell” from The Sound of Music. This event was all possible through the coordination of fellow OLG Music Ministers Rich and LauraLee D’Auria, who sing and play for Mass monthly at Queen of Peace, and Sr. Maria Catherine Isp. And, as always, we wish to thank Steven Eriquez and Anthony Glaviano for their dedication and support of the young people of Our Lady of Grace parish! The children greatly enjoyed the experience of being of service and bringing joy to all of the Queen of Peace residents.
